Day Retreats

A day retreat offers an opportunity to take some time by yourself to reflect and pray, away from the distractions and demands of daily life. Day Retreats at Poiema are self-guided, enabling you to pray or read at your leasure, or there are resources available at the Retreat House that you may find useful if you would like to use them.
We offer space for day retreats one week every month, from Monday to Friday. No residential retreats are being run in these weeks to enable day retreatants to have maximum use of the space in the house and garden. Private rooms may be available on request. Dates for Day Retreats can be found on our retreats and quiet days page.
Day retreatants are welcome to arrive from 9.30am onwards and to stay until 5pm, and currently have use of the lounge, dining room, chapel and garden. The chapel is situated in the barn; on cooler days you might like to bring an extra layer for your time in the chapel. Spiritual books and art resources for prayer are available in the lounge.
Lunchtime prayer
A short time of prayer takes place at 12.20pm in the chapel, to which you are warmly invited.
Lunch & Refreshments
Please bring a packed lunch. You are very welcome to join us for lunch in the dining room at 1pm, or to enjoy lunch alone. Tea and coffee are provided, as part of your retreat.
Booking your retreat

With limited places available, you will need to book a place by contacting us.
We suggest a donation of £10-15 for the day. Donations can be given either by cash using the envelope provided on the day, or via online banking (please state “Poiema” in the reference section).
